"… it’s not just history. It’s me, I make it happen."
#THIS IS WHY THE 50TH OFFENDS ME #because ”the doctor would never push the button” YES HE FUCKING WOULD #IF IT CAME DOWN TO IT #if it came down to killing a species or city or country or even A FUCKING PLANET #in order to SAVE HISTORY AND HUMANITY AND THE WHOLE UNIVERSE#HE WOULD FUCKING DO IT #don’t tell me that he wouldn’t because we know for a fact that he does it here and in other times and places #and it’s not a bad thing!!!!! #it doesn’t make him evil or stupid for not figuring out a loophole!!! #it makes him STRONG #a leader has to make the tough calls that sometimes costs innocent lives because that’s what’s best for the mission #the mission is what matters (/Buffy) #so don’t tell me that the Doctor would never destroy his planet to save the universe #because here he destroys pompeii to save history #and he takes on that burden of all the lives lost because he MUST #because he’s the ONLY ONE strong enough to shoulder that burden #and don’t tell me dw50 that he’s not that kind of person #because THIS kind of person - the one that destroys pompeii? #THIS person is a hell of a lot stronger and braver than the one who just magically-and-with-no-legitimate-plot-continuity-or-development #uses his ~cleverness~ to save his planet #you want to rewrite the past in order to bring gallifrey back and add a new plot dynamic to the show FINE #but don’t do it in a way that DESTROYS all of his AMAZING character development #don’t do the doctor that disservice #because the fact that he IS capable of putting the needs of the many over the needs of the few is what makes him so special #and the fact that he makes all these heartbreaking decisions and still manages to soldier on is what makes him phenomenal #and the fact that he will continue to make these impossible decisions again and again for the good of the universe even though it tears him apart? #THAT’S what makes him the Doctor (via winterinthetardis)
GOD BLESS YOU, NILI. GOD BLESS YOU.
*HAPPY BIRTHDAY* Sean Bean 4/17/1959
"Another story — and this really is an index of the real man… I met him in LAX (Los Angeles airport), he’d come direct from New Zealand. We were both going to London. He was carrying what seemed like 20 bags and he’s got this old man and old lady there. I asked Sean if I could give him a hand. After waiting a few minutes, I asked whether he was going to introduce me to his friends. ‘Is this your Mum and Dad?’ He said he’d love to introduce me to them but he didn’t know their names. The rather dazed old couple introduce themselves…they were just an old couple who had been on the plane and had been struggling with their luggage, he’d decided to help them out. They had no idea who he was. We get to Heathrow and I’m running for a connection and out of the corner of my eye, I can see Sean very patiently taking their bags off, stacking them and steering them through customs. I don’t believe, to this day, they had any idea who he was. The man is pure gold. I love him to death. He’s just a thoroughly good man and a marvelous actor."
